Attention of Indian Women Pregnancy Danger and Forming Educational Guides for
Incoming Mother
Introduction
The experience of a women pregnancy in India is comparably different to the
practical norm. India has beliefs and religion that they practice and follow especially
when it comes to seeking marriage and creating a life. However, there is “detrimental
effect” from mothers and their child’s health which leads to death. While those who were
brought up in India follow the line of their morals and religion, the community should
organize programs to inform teen pregnancy/young mothers, educate proper newborn
care, and provide self-care for mothers.
Organizing Programs
Many Indian women and their child face preventable deaths in relation to
pregnancy or childbirth. One practice that is causing negative effect on maternal and
child health is the practice of their rites and rituals. It’s important to dig through and
understand these morals and practices to further understand the “good” elements of
these practices. The authors Khan and Shahid provided an interview for 18 women from
the age range of 15-45 who will participate to research and obtain a deeper knowledge
of the culture and the danger of their practice. The participants all have different
experiences and opinions however, they all have had experienced pregnancies and
childbirth in which is relevant to the study. It is common that woman in India face the

soon as possible to get married. This leads to lack of childhood and innocence are
being taken away too fast. Once puberty marks, parents are eager to immediately marry
off their daughter leading to what the authors Shahid and Khan said a “vicious cycle of
early marriage, pregnancy and childbirth (Khan and Shahid, 2022).” This comes to show
that families and young girls are not being educated on teen pregnancy and the health
risk factors. The India National Family Health Survey states that about “26.8% women
ages 20-24 marry before 18 years of age and 7.9% of 15–19-year-old are mothers of
pregnant” results said from Khan and Shahid. Teaching teens to be aware of early
pregnancy and health risks can empower them to make their own decisions for their
own body. This also gives them a chance to find their path and career, working for
themselves and improve on self-confidence. The knowledge and care of pregnant
mothers are not well cared for due to traditions of their culture. One of the participants
informs that during her pregnancy, monthly checkups were not attended causing her to
not be aware of what injections she was receiving. Lack of update on the body may lead
to an unsafe delivery. Programs are needed to guide mothers and follow the healthy
way of life.
Newborn Care
It is the goal to birth a baby boy into the family because they bring “fortune and
light” to the family. A baby boy will grow to become the “breadwinner” as the author
states for the family, but if a baby girl is born it, is a disappointment. Although wishing
for the birth of a boy is ideal, the care and post care for the newborn is the same and
considerably dangerous for the mother’s health and newborn. The first care for the
