Historiography of Media, Art,Design, Architecture (L_AABAMKD218)

There is explained why I chose the object of the Eiffel Tower and what a historiographical inquiry of this object would entail (what will we be looking for?; what kind of questions will we be asking?; what might we find out?; what might we learn?...). The cultural perspective is applied, how would it enable us to study this object? There is relied on the readings from week 1 and week 2, and also on our discussions during the lectures.

This essay is a portfolio that historicizes the Eiffel Tower. There is a page dedicated for an introduction, explaining the relevance of the Eiffel Tower and what one could learn from comparing its different (possible) historiographies. There is a page dedicated (around 500 words) to the analysis according to each of the perspectives discussed in the course (culture, technology, ideology, transfers, and "post"). There is explained how the Eiffel Tower could be historicized through both prisms discussed in Lecture 5 (transfers) and Lecture 6 (the "post"). The arguments are based on the readings and the lectures. Rely on the readings from week 5 and week 6 and also on our discussions during the lectures.
