Unless you live inside a cave and never deal with other people, conflict is an inevitable part of our lives. Just knowing how to deal with conflicts personally is not enough, especially if the other party doesn't handle conflict in a constructive and appropriate manner. The five stages of conflict management help to know how to handle conflict personally and how to guide the other party so the conflict can be resolved efficiently and so all parties involved are satisfied.

Building a more just society doesn't happen overnight; regarding the juvenile criminal justice system, it is a work in progress that must consider many factors pertaining to the differences between juveniles and adults. I am the defense for the case of People v. Joey Juvey; I will go over and argue the criminal justice issues, cultural sensitivity, constitutional principles, and diversity awareness with the hope of promoting social justice goals in the local communities.
This paper will go over and summarize three Supreme Court cases, Miranda v. Arizona (1966), Terry v. Ohio (1968), and Weeks v. United States. My summaries will also include (1) which constitutional amendment(s) relied upon in the Court's decision, (2) describe the Supreme Court's decision, what issues they ruled on for each case, (3) analyze whether the Supreme Court’s ruling provides appropriate protections for defendants or if the result was an unnecessary risk to the people's safety, (4) ex...
The mindsets of warrior vs. guardian are two models that are distinct from one another on ways to approach policing. December 2014, there was a highly publicized officer-involved shooting; in its wake, more than twenty cities reached settlements or entered consent decrees with the D.O.J. because of a history of repeated patterns for some police practices that were considered unconstitutional. After that, the White House put together a task force whose main objective was examining all the policin...
While only 56% of the current jail inmates admitted to taking illicit substances, the actual percentage is probably much higher due to the increasing number of individuals in a program like drug court. Programs to rehabilitate criminals, such as drug courts, recovery opportunity court (ROC), and family courts, are becoming more popular. Most states are now offering them to free up jail and prison space. This paper will cover the criminal justice issue of illegal drugs and go over how the judicia...
This journal will go over how women's artistic expression and movements for social change intersected in the late 20th century. It will provide two examples of creative women from that time whose art helped make social change possible. Lastly, I will discuss art and social change intersecting in my community.
In this Journal, I will compare how the statuses and attitudes toward women during Gilman's time compared to the lifestyle of women in Herland. I’ll speak about how Gilman challenges widely held views about women’s nature in times of the Renaissance, the Victorian ideal, and during the time she published Herland. I will give my opinion on what attitudes about women (gender ideology) and limitations on women's lives I see in my lifetime? And lastly, what are some changes that have occurred ...
The two creative women I will discuss are Artemisia Gentileschi (159–1653) and Barbara Strozzi (1619–1677). While reflecting on the topic, I will consider questions such as, did these women benefit from having family support or professional networks, or were they excluded from them? Did these women have access to education or artistic training? Did they challenge the existing power structures? And if so, were they successful?
Since the very beginning of time, there have been exceptional women who refuse to be told who or what they can be. Today that is not unheard of; however, in the 17th and 18th centuries during the Baroque period, artistic women were few and far between. It took a strong and fearless woman to stand up for what they believed in and push back against a system composed of mostly men that were built for them to fail. As time went on, gender ideologies and society began to change, realizing that women ...
