Clare’s law: Clare’s law was a campaign to create a scheme that allows people to find out from the police if their partner has a history of domestic violence. It is named after 36 year old Clare Wood Who was strangled and set on fire in her home in Greater Manchester, in February 2009 by George Appleton, her boyfriend at the time, who had a record of violence against women.
