In this essay I look at an extract from The History Boys by Alan Bennett, discussing Hector's comedic and tragic role within the extract, and how this reflects on the themes of the play. I also explore the relationship between Hector and Posner, and touch on what Hector's true 'character' is. This was part of the coursework component for OCR English Literature, Literature post-1900, and is a close reading analysis of the extract. I received an A* and full marks for this essay.
