BASES AND ACIDS OF CHOICE,2024
Bases of Choice
• Bases frequently used in pharmaceutical practice
1. CO3
2-
2. Hydroxide
3. HCO3
-
(bicarbonate)
• Usually used in the form of their sodium salts
• Potassium salt can be used as well but often rare. Na+ is
preferred because of its physiological compatibility
• It’s the major cation in the ECF and important in impulse
transmission and maintenance of osmotic pressure
• Solubility of Na+
is almost free from acid and base
properties
• Na+ + H2O N...

Definition: Inflammation is a local response (reaction) of living vascularized tissues to endogenous and exogenous stimuli.

The term is derived from the Latin "inflammare" meaning to burn.

Inflammation is fundamentally destined to localize and eliminate the causative agent and to limit tissue injury.

Thus, inflammation is a physiologic (protective) response to injury.
