GM593: Project Execution with Monitoring and ControlUnit 1 Assignment Locking scope
LOCKING SCOPE 3 Introduction A project scope consists of the work that is completed once the project is finished. Scope is one of the most important elements of a project, and all planning and distribution of resources are foundational in understanding this. Once the scope is determined, it must be locked in place as this will not only complete the planning process of the project, but ensure project success from the commitment of the stakeholders, project manager, sponsor, and team. Locking scope can result in quicker projects and higher productivity. Strategies to Prevent Scope Creep Although it is fundamental to lock scope in place, changes will inevitably occur during a project. If these changes aren’t handled appropriately, scope creep will occur and hinder the success of the project. A project management plan in place will facilitate any changes that transpire during a project. The components of a project management plan can comprise of the scope management plan, requirements management plan, and change management plan.
