SOCW 6121 Planning a groupPlanning a groupDepartment of Social Work, Walden UniversitySOCW 6121Planning a groupPurpose Adult survivors will start to deal with their trauma more deeply in a secure setting (Toseland & Rivas, 2017). The purpose of this group is to support survivors in developing an understanding of their feelings, ideas, and behaviors. Identifying their identity and resuming self- care will help survivors advance on their path to recovery. through activities that have been carefully chosen (Kirkner et al., 2018). There will be presentations and demonstrations of various grounding and relaxation techniques, and survivors will learn how to apply these, along with coping mechanisms, emotion control, self-care, and psychoeducation about the aftereffects of trauma, on their own (Senn et al., 2023). The group will be facilitated by a certified mental health professional with training who is qualified to address difficult subjects pertaining to traumatic events.
