Gene pools
● A gene pool allows us to visualize all alleles (and their frequencies) that exist
within a population at a given time
● Take all individuals (genotypes) and list the alleles they possess
● This allows us to predict the genotypes in the next generation
● GENOTYPE FREQUENCY – proportion of individuals in the population with a
given genotype
● 3 AA out of population of 6
● ALLELE FREQUENCY– proportion of a given allele within the gene pool
● 7 A alleles out of gene pool of 14 alleles
