P4 task 1:
In this assignment I am going to be talking about British airways as a company and how both
the external and internal environment have an affect on the company, British airways is an
airline which is the second largest within the UK in 2011 British airways had merged with
Iberia which then created the International Airlines Group (IAG) they generated more than
$1 billion on a single air route in a year. British airline was created in 1974.
Both Internal and external factors influence and effect the success of a business, they also
measure their competitors they may have within the business it also analysis’s how
profitable the business is. The internal factors are factors within the business that are
controlled by an organisation and example of internal factor is human resources and finance
these are vital factors within a business as a business relies on finance as they a business
most have funds put in place which will help them to survive and grow if not the business
can fail. For example British Airways had partnered up and collaborated with Dettol this was
done during the pandemic to ensure customers who were travelling was safe. Whereas
external factors are situations a business is unable to control for example the economy and
politics. There are certain external factors that can affect the business for example, shipping
tax due to Brexit a lot of business are affected due to their product coming from overseas
therefore they are having to pay tax on there items which could cause their business to lose
profit due to having to pay tax rates.
The internal environment: corporate culture
Corporate culture is referred to as the attitudes, beliefs, values, and ethics that help
determine how employees of the business interact and handle the transactions within the
business. The culture of the business can be reflected as the business hours, turnover and
client satisfaction. It is also influenced by economic trends and traditions. Its vital for a
business to create a corporate culture that encourages certain behaviours within a working
environment as it helps to improve the brand identity and image of the business. Every
business has their own individual culture as ethics and values are different within
businesses. An example of a company that had become successful due to them
incorporating corporate culture is British airways ,as they adapted the corporate company
within there company as they do not worry about how many hours someone works and by
doing so, they have seen a risen number of both employees and customers.
Corporate social responsibility:
Corporate social responsibility is the involvement within a business that helps improve the
quality of peoples lives it involves finances that do not directly effect the company but
rather helps the environmental change this includes looking at society’s behaviour and
seeing how it will have an impact on customers, suppliers and stakeholders the corporate
social responsibility helps the business to behave ethically and contribute to the
development within the economy while still making sure there improving the quality of life
of there families and local community’s. Corporate social responsibility can also help play a
role in generating customer loyalty based on ethical values the business can also benefit
from this as it helps build up a reputation. There are factors that are affecting a business
