UNIT 37: UNDERSTANDING BUSINESS ETHICS

D1: evaluate the impact of a selected business’s ethical behaviour on stakeholders
and the business.

INTRODUCTION

This assignment focuses on the impact of the business’ behaviour on the
stakeholders within Body Shop and how the stakeholders may respond. Furthermore,
it will focus on how the impacts on the stakeholder will affect Body Shop.

IMPACT OF BUSINESS BEHAVIOUR ON STAKEHOLDERS AT BODY SHOP

CUSTOMERS

The customer of Body Shop is highly impacted by the behaviour of the business
because these are the individuals who purchase products and services from Body
Shop.

Advantages

If Body Shop behaves in a way that shows morality and worthiness, customers will be
able to get products that they want and shop at a business that they like and are
familiar with. The customers will continue to buy from them and these customers will
eventually turn into loyal customers and Body Shop will always be their first option.
Also, these customers will always speak highly of Body Shop and this will assist in
them being able to gain more customers. The more customers that Body Shop
means the more sales and profit they will make as the years pass by and this will
enable Body Shop to expand their business more and reach more customers.

Disadvantages

If Body Shop chooses to partake in activity that is negative and shows lack of
integrity and morals, then, customers will no longer want to buy from Body Shop and
they will go to their competitors because they are no longer receiving what they
want. Loyal customers will have to find a new option to the brand they once loved
and always preferred to buy their products at. After a while, as Body Shop loses
customers, they will then have to find alternatives to gain their customers back but if
they do not, they will be making less sales than usual and see a loss in their
finances. This may cause them to slowly shut down businesses that they have
around the world because they are no longer able to keep up with the payments to
maintain these stores and make stock to supply these stores.

SUPPLIERS

These are the individuals/organizations that provide Body Shop with the materials
that are produced to make their product/ package their product, etc.

Advantages

If Body Shop behaves in a positive way, it will affect the suppliers in this way as well.
Suppliers assist in ensuring that Body Shop has products to be able to stock the
shelf, Body Shop must pay them for these products. Suppliers will continue to supply
the business if they receive their share of payments as well. Other suppliers will want
to work with Body Shop and this opens the doors for the creations and additions of
