After your experiences of participating in the selection and interview process at Tesco, you are now
required to evaluate your contribution to the selection process for a specified job.
I prepared for my interview for the customer assistant role to ensure I knew what I was talking about to
make me a standout candidate. When presenting my knowledge, I was noticeably confident because of
my good understanding of the role which benefited me as every time I was asking a question by the
employer, I was confident in answering directly. In the days leading up to my interview I had practiced a
series of questions in which I felt that the employer would have asked me, this strategy allowed me to
be more organization and prepared for my interview alongside waking up early and arriving 30 minutes
earlier to avoid the morning rush and be at ease. I have experience with interacting with customers
which made things easier when engaging with the employer. Because I was highly organized prior to
before I did not find my interview difficult as I had a series of skills which I gained from my previous role.
Both my cv and my cover letter where both reliable sources as they helped to boost my interview
chances as the employer referred to a various of my skills, hobbies, and qualifications from which he
questioned my about and asked me to expand and go into detail. I also had researched information
about customer assistant vacancies and what the organizations requirements for the role are and other
areas such as the qualities and qualifications in which they also ask for from candidate.
Once the interview began, upon greeting I firstly shook the employer's hand to show a level of maturity
and respect. As I have noticed not many candidates do this, which means this creates an excellent first
impression which is extremely important because it stays with the interviewer. The preparation I
gathered before my interview really helped me to stay at ease with the questions the interviewer was
asking me, because I had gone over majority of the answers I would respond with beforehand. This
allowed me to stay calm and professional because I was not nervous as I had thoroughly prepared. As I
was early to the interview, this made me less nervous as well because I was able to control the situation
and set a good first impression by being on time.
The feedback in which I received from the employers was that I was confident and composed during my
interview which was positive response. The employer also said I kept firm eye contact with them that is
a particularly important skill to get. This benefited so much because I was able to look determined when
answering questions. I was able to accurately back up my original points which I made and effectively
show evidence for them. I have learnt to practice my confidence level to make sure my speech is clear
and persistent. For my upcoming interviews I will ensure I dress more appropriately and more
professional so that my interviews will judge me on their first impressions. During the interview, in my
opinion I feel I was respectful and polite to my interviewer as I really wanted to show them, I was
determined to get the job.
However, there were other areas for development. For example, I was able to deliver my words clearly
and elegantly, but I was loud enough which prompted the employer on many occasions to ask me to
repeat what I said this is because my voice is very deep which is why I need to work on projecting my
voice louder when it comes to explaining things. Other things I need to consider was dressing more
