Unit 19 developing teams in
business
Klein Luyindula

In this task I will be explaining about working as part of a team and how every
member of my team contributed to achieve specific goals and I will also be including
about how we dealt with any conflict or difficult situations. To add to this, I will also
review the overall effectiveness of our smoothie business.

Team Objective 1 - To make £10,000 in profit at the end of the year.
Team Objective 2 - To have good overall organization for the smoothie business.
Team Objective 3 – To have attract 30 loyal customers from the college.

I worked in a several ways in order to ways in order to reach our 3-team objective. For
example, I was responsible for the preparation documents such as the contingency
planning and the risk assessment in which I felt would help to attract loyal customers.
Also, I engaged in having multiple conversations with customers in order to build
customer relationships and build a bond between each other in doing this will keep the
customer returning as they will have a lot of loyalty. I also asked the customers for their
consent so I can photograph them holding the smoothies in their hands.

I showed my leadership qualities in key situations, and I believe that I was a mixture of
democratic and bureaucratic leader during the planning stage for example there were
instance in which I had to stand up and take charge of motivating my team members
and ensuring that all the planning presentations were to be completed at every lesson in
which we came together and met. This clearly shows that I was able to bring effective

management towards my team because I was hoping to motivate every member of the
team in order to ensure they perform to the highest standard possible. This would allow
us to reach all of our objectives that can be seen above as an entire team. Also, I believe
that I was able to display my leadership qualities by coming up with a structure for our
smoothie business and how we are going to sell our products to the students in the
college.
We ran an effective smoothie business in Haringey sixth form college. There's a lot of
positives that I can outline for example we worked effectively and communicated well
with each other in a team. I believe that we were very organized in running out business
as every member have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibility in the
business. However, there were also a few negatives aspects regarding our business for
instance even though we worked well as a team there were still some people within the
group who didn’t do enough work during the planning stages. Also, another negative
aspect from starting our business would be the timing of starting our smoothie business
because we started it during winter, and it was very cold, so majority of our customers
preferred have hot lunches and hot drinks which is why we had to think of an
alternative to add hot smoothies to our menu.
I think that we were able to work well as a team due to the fact that we were able to
work effectively for a length of time prior to pitching our business idea to the class. The
planning stage for our smoothie business was very vital because we were able to
understand one another ahead of our smoothie business, we also possessed good
leadership qualities and demonstrated the qualities when it came to serving customers
with Me & Selase T taking steeping up and taking charge when it came to dealing with
customers. Other leadership qualities in which I showed was during the planning stages
where there was an often of time when I had to step up and motivate everyone and also
set agendas for meetings in other to ensure that we had a goal set in which we needed
to speak on working towards. I also ensured that the task where being completed on
schedule along with my team members. Also, I believe that I was able to display my
leadership qualities by introducing a structure for example on how the smoothie will run
once we start up.
Within our group a few conflicts had risen during the planning of our smoothie business
for example certain individuals were contributing more during the planning but didn’t
want to commit to contributing working hours in the smoothie business. An example of
planning task in which we completed will be below in the planning task:
