Introduction
Branding is the process of giving meaning to a specific business and building a brand in the
customer’s mind. Branding consists of a logo, slogan, values and vision. “A unique brand can
have a huge impact on your bottom line by giving you a competitive advantage over your
rivals and helping you acquire and retain customers” (source-Oberlo-website 24/10. /2022)
branding helps businesses in many ways one of them is to build brand recognition and keep
customers coming back by building brand loyalty whilst giving them a competitive advantage.
One example is the M of McDonald’s. This logo is so well recognized that it gets millions of
people attending the restaurant daily, as if you saw a yellow M, you would instantly recognize
McDonald’s and most likely go there rather than an unknown brand.
Principles of Branding
Coca-Cola owns many different brands, and I will give an overview of 3 of them but I have
personally chosen Fanta, Sprite and Smart Water.
Fanta: Introduced in the year 1940 and the second oldest brand of Coca-Cola. Fanta is a popular
soft drink made with 100% natural flavours who offers many different flavours ranging from
orange to grape
Sprite: Sprite was firstly introduced in the year 1961 and the third-best selling brand of Coca-
Cola. Sprite is a lemon and lime-flavoured soft drink who is sold in more than 190 countries,
they are making celebrity remixes one of them is their partnership with LeBron James who
introduced Sprite 6 Mix.
Smart Water: Smart Water was introduced in the year 1996 by Glaceau but was brought by
Coca-Cola in the year 2007. The product has been inspired by the hydrological process that
nature uses to create clouds and provide the purest water. It is then mineralised with
electrolytes, which provides it with a clean, and desirable taste.

Logo:
Coca-Cola is one of the most popular non-alcoholic beverages with one of the most well-known
logos. The logo was invented in 1886 and started growing at a rapid rate, the man responsible
for making Coca-Cola's iconic logo how well it is known today is Frank Robison's who said “two
Cs would look well in advertising” since then the logo has been refined and renovated, whilst
keeping its originality and style. The logo is a crucial part of a business as it is the main face of a
business, a well-made logo can improve the brand recognition of a business as it is the first
thing customers would notice, having a strong brand recognition will help leave a strong
impression on customers minds. The better the logo tends to be the more of a competitive
edge your business would acquire, this is the case for Coca-Cola whose bright red logo has a
psychological advantage over other brands as red is proven to be more eye-catching on
various studies conducted by psychologists.(source-pshycodocs-website-(7/11/22)
Furthermore, a logo can help show your personality to the public, Coca-Cola's logo is bright red
to show that they are risk-takers and red can further represent love as the love and boldness
will produce a strong trust between the brand and the customers it would also invoke a sense
of excitement for the consumers. Therefore, a good logo is crucial for a business in order to
have an advantage and increase their revenue.
