Blogs

An example of a media type used in campaign is blogs. Blogs are websites that
are regularly updated and written in an informal or conversational style which
are usually run by individuals or small groups. They are produced by cam-
paigns etc. This is an effective method of campaigning because a blog is free
and easy to create, which makes people more likely to blog. It can also be
linked to social media, which increases its popularity and makes it better
known.
A short blog post also makes people more likely to read it. It is common for
people, especially young people, to avoid reading lengthy articles with lots of
information. It will be more appealing to people because of the shorter style,
making it an effective way to raise awareness. On the other hand, this cam-
paigning method can be criticized as not effective as it can be difficult to find
blogs, especially if you do not have the internet or are not tech-savvy. This
could result in the campaign becoming less known and not growing in popular-
ity. If the blog is unknown, people will not be interested in reading it, which will
lead to a decrease in support. The most important thing about blogs is that
they need to be kept up to date, which can be very time consuming. A success-
ful campaign is Greenpeace. Greenpeace uses videos and articles which can be
posted on the blog. The majority of the posts on the blog have been shared via
social media platforms, linked and received comments. It has been shared 969,
884 and 626 times. On the other side the campaign Unlock haven’t been suc-
cessful because there is too much information which was too hard to under-
stand. Because of this they don’t have more than 10 shares on their posts.
In conclusion, I don’t think this is a good media type to be used by a campaign
because it is very hard to find a blog now days and it is not as popular as it was
in 2013.

Social Networking

An example of a media type used in campaign is social networking. Social net-
working is to connect with others, they can be useful campaigning tools. This is
an effective method of campaigning because it makes it easy to reach people
by sending messages and posts to people without their consent, making them
aware of the campaign and increasing its popularity. It also helps to make the
campaign more eye-catching to attract their attention. On the other hand, this
campaigning method can be criticized as not effective because it can be easy
to get lost or ignored as people scroll by. Organizers may find it difficult to pro-
mote their campaigns through social media. They may reach a small audience
and do not spread through social media to a larger audience. Although reach is
not the same as change. Just because someone hears about a campaign does
not mean they will act. It is better to raise awareness than to act. A successful
campaign is the #Me Too which is against sexual harassment and sexual as-
