Unit 4 Assignment A

The focus of this research is Whipps cross hospital (which is run by the
National health service) in Leytonstone East London E11 1NR. The
hospitals opening hours are from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, welcoming
diversified patients from different backgrounds as more than 40
languages are spoken at the hospital assisting people who have language
difficulties. Whipps cross aims for the care and safety of patients ensuring
that their patients always get support and are either cured or treated. The
organisation serves a diverse local population of more than 350,000
people from Waltham Forest, Epping Forest, Redbridge and further afield.
Typically, in a day, the trust treats 931 A&E patients and approximately
1.3 million outpatients a year as they have a great reputation for
providing a full range of services such as maternity, urology, radiology,
audiology, cardiology, colorectal surgery, cancer care, acute stroke care
and a service of 24-hour A&E urgent care centre.

Whipps cross hospital ensures high standards of health and safety as
currently due to COVID-19 they are making sure that masks have been
given out to patients who don’t have a mask, plenty of hand sanitises
available throughout the whole hospital and social distancing rules are put
in place at the hospital to avoid the spread of COVID , so anyone that
does not adhere to the regulations will be kicked out of the hospital as
legislations are put in place for people's health & safety .
Moreover, the departments that are focused on in this research are
maternity and radiology. The maternity department helps with pregnancy
and child births and their main aims are for mothers to report a good
experience, to encourage normality in births by reducing unnecessary
interventions, to promote public health with a focus on reducing
inequalities. Furthermore, radiology is a medical speciality that uses
imaging to diagnose and treat diseases seen within the body. Radiologists
use a range of imaging techniques such as: X-ray, ultrasound, computed
tomography (CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission
tomography (PET), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnose or
treat diseases.
The potential hazards for the maternity department is shown in the table
below with legislations that need to be adhered to by the organisation:
