Islamic Belief and Practice Introduction Every religion of the world has distinctive characteristics that characterize its adherents' worldview. The recognition of the Five Pillars is one of the main values of Islam. The Muslims regard this precept as the heart of the living with extreme dedication. Islam is one of the world's oldest and most widely practiced monotheistic religions. “Islam simply means surrender or resignation, implying total submission to God, and a Muslim is a person who submits to God. Islam is based on the teachings of Muhammad, who is regarded as God's last prophet. The Qur'an is Islam's holy book, and it is made up of recollections of Mohammed's sermons as well as revelations from his early followers. Five Pillars of Islam To support their religion, Muhammad's message can be summarized as the five fundamental duties or the Five Pillars of Islam. Islam's creed is known as Shahada. It is “the fundamental prerequisite for naming yourself a Muslim to be able to say the creed with certainty of its truth: There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger”. An observant Muslim is required to pray a standardized set of prayers five times per day, known as salat or prayer. Islamic adherents are supposed to contribute 2.5 percent of their net worth to the needy, as Muhammad envisioned, in order to create a more just world (Molloy, 2020). During the lunar month of Ramadan, fasting, takes place. Sustaining oneself from food at specific times, alcohol, smoking, and even sexual activity. The Sawm or Fasting Pillar The Five Pillars of Islam are the basis and fundamental convictions that form civilization. Muslim lives. Believers would obey them with the utmost devotion, which will change the way some of the foundations of hospitalization are done by dedicated Muslim patients. I decided to look closely at the Sawm pillar or fasting. It will be very helpful to the medical staff to consider and respect the faith of a patient before surgery and treatment during hospitalizations. It would also be advantageous to consider how the Sawm tradition impacts the general well-being of Muslim patients during hospitalization (Molloy, 2020). According to research fasting brings Allah's blessings and helps those who observe it more empathically, and improve the comprehension of listening. Fasting also enables Muslims to regulate their body and avoid desires such as drugs, alcohol and unhealthy sexual affairs. Sufis Difference from Muslims Sufism is a community of Islamic movements. The Sufi movement is defined by its mysticism, or the conviction that the highest experience a human can have is a direct encounter with God. Believers in Sufism claim that meeting God is the primary intention of life and that it does not have to be delayed until after death (Aishima, 2016). Fasting and starvation are used in Sufism to attain life-changing spiritual encounters. Sufis regard Muhammad as a mystic because of his discoveries of speaking to God, living simply, and finding God, and they hope to emulate him. Reason for Choosing the Pillar Fasting, though it is considered to be compulsory, has some provisions under which a person can be excused for that period and prepared to feed one poor man for the fasting he misses every day after recovery. The five pillar of Islam, as can be seen, support followers of the religious habits. Ideology requires that an individual acknowledges Islam's fundamental principles in public, prays on a daily basis and helps the needy. References Aishima, H. (2016).
