, Introduction/Scenario
The Purpose of this assignment is to enable students to demonstrate their ability to
investigate and document a system requirement.
“Parcels ‘R’uss” is a business Russ started to help support himself financially whilst
studying at university in Sheffcaster. Businesses such as Preet Singh’s’ flower shop
would pay Russ to deliver parcels locally. However, as demand for deliveries
increased and Russ came to the end of his course he had to ask his partner Steve to
help with deliveries. It soon became clear that even with Steve’s’ help Russ would
need to work at his deliveries full time and employ others to help. Currently including
Russ, the business has a workforce of six. Initially Russ kept very few records other
than scribbled messages in his old note books. Which the tax man did not like! Russ
is desperate to make his business a success and comply with all appropriate
legislation. He knows an effective information system is essential to this.
The company you work for “DC Solutions” have asked you to investigate the current
system at “Parcels ‘R’uss” and document the system requirements of the business,
using the techniques you have learnt on your BTEC Level 3 national Diploma in
Information Technology.
