How does the Length of wire afeets resistanee?
Aim: To record voltage readings from the two multmeters against diferent lengths of wire.
Equipment:
1. Wire atached to a wooden ruler (helps to measure the precise length of the wire).
2. Two diferent multmeters (sinometer and digital multmeter).
3. Connecton wires
4. Metal clips
5. Power block
Method:
1. Link all of the required wires to form a circuit, make sure you have metal clips
atached at the ends of the connecton wires as you will be ataching those to the
chosen length of the exposed wire.
2. Do not turn the power block before staring the experiment, only when all of the
equipment is set up appropriately.
3. Implement one of the multmeters into the circuit and set it up at measuring the
20V.
4. You will have available a long strand of the exposed wire, you will need to work your
way up and extend the length by moving the metal clips wider apart to be secured at
a diferent length.
5. The same length has to be measured three tmes using the same type of the
multmeter – you can turn of and on the power block to do this.
6. SAFETY Precautonn do not increase the voltage supplied from the power block
exceeding 8.00V – increasing will result in the wire beginning to burn – you might
want to even not to exceed the range of 5.00V.
