Unit 43 D1 – Applied Science

D1 – Assess the basis for the classifcaaon of diferent infecaons and diseases:

In this assignment I will assess the basis for the classifcaaon of diferent infecaons and
diseases.
It is now extremely useful to classify the diferent infecaons and diseases, the reason for
that is because it helps the medical professionals to have a beter understanding of how to
deal with that sort of disease. The scienasts have found that classifying diferent diseases
and infecaons have improved the research in terms of determining the cause of the
infecaon and disease. Classifying the diferent infecaons and diseases have also helped the
medical professionals to determine the causal relaaonship between the diseases the factors
which might have caused the disease or infecaon.
There are several classifcaaons which the diferent diseases fall into, one of the examples of
the classifcaaons is the topographic classifcaaon. This classifcaaon is also made up of
smaller classifcaaon groups which would specialise in their own area. For example, there
are vascular diseases, abdominal diseases, gastrointesanal diseases and chest disease. The
reason for these subdivisions is that there are specialists who tend to be specialised in the
areas specifc to the disease classifcaaons, e.g. there could be a medical surgeon who is
specialised in the abdominal diseases. These are advantageous because the medical
specialists can focus on their strong area of research, which means that when it comes to
treaang diseases and infecaons they are going to be able to deal with those who have a
disease or an infecaon.
There is also an anatomic classifcaaon involves the diseases being placed into diferent
categories depending on the organs and assues which have been afected because of that
disease. For example, you can have a liver disease, which targets the liver (an organ). There
is also another example, heart disease. In this there are specialists called cardiologists who
have a lot knowledge in the heart organ. An advantage of this classifcaaon is that, this
means that if there are specialists who are strong in the anatomic classifcaaon they would
be able to determine diferent diseases according to the organ they are specialised in. The
cardiologists have found the link between the heart funcaoning and the coronary arteries
once they are afected. So if someone is experiencing heart failure, the cardiologists must
begin with observing the coronary arteries and if they were iniaally afected by a disease. A
disadvantage of this classifcaaon is that there might be a lack of professionals in certain
areas of felds of diseases which may result in individuals receiving not as precise diagnosis
from other less qualifed professionals who might be stronger in other felds of work.
Physiological classifcaaon involves the actual funcaoning of paracular systems, for example,
someone who has a respiratory disease will have an issue with receiving oxygen efecavely.
This makes it difcult for the individual with the respiratory disease to carry out daily
acaviaes, they would oeen feel out of breath and they would always feel exhausted. There
are also metabolic diseases, which involve the metabolic reacaons in the body to be
afected. For example, Diabetes is one of the examples of the metabolic diseases –
depending on which type of the diabetes the individual has, their blood glucose level will
oeen be high due to the glands being unable to secrete insulin to lower the glucose
