The healthcare industry has strong impacting factors. Including insurance mandates, tax legislation
changes and consumer protection.
Government spending on healthcare can be affected by policy changes when it comes to taxes. This
can be a benefit for healthcare because it will allow for increased subsidies to take place, but it can
be a concern as well due to the government changes that can affect the public and healthcare
services people are entitled to, especially when it comes to changing healthcare plans.
Changes in importing policies of drugs as well as the strikes of healthcare experts because of unfair
employment regulations and irregularities in salary limits the amount of care that is then provided to
the people that need it the most. If there are tax policy changes that occurred in the economy the
healthcare industry is going to be affected because it will either require subsidies or allowances to
increase government expenditure in the industry.
Economic factors –
Interest rates, unemployment, inflation, and credit availability are all economic factors that affect
the healthcare industry’s operations daily. With unemployment rates rising it means that there will
be a reduction in the number of people that can look after the consumers. Any of the changes can
how the public can spend their money.
Fuel costs can have a big impact on the healthcare industry as well due to the increase in the cost of
fuel means that companies are going to have to increase the cost, they give their staff for mileage.
Social factors –
Factors like the ageing population are big social factors that will impact the healthcare industry.
There is added strain on some of the people that are in the healthcare industry due to the demand
the job entails by the staff, they are all working long hours to look after the people that are there,
and this can be tricky for them.
It can be hard for the healthcare industry as people that are from different demographic
backgrounds that have English as a second language will need visas to get into the country and it will
be a longer more expensive process to hire them. Along with the inability to attract new staff as well
meaning that it is very hard to make sure there is enough staff for the number of patients they have.

There is always new research and technological development that needs to be done within the
healthcare industry, this plays a vital role in treating and managing patients, staff and facilities. Some
technological advancements will help patients receive better care. For example, a lot of
