Effective Sports Leadership D*
4 Qualities
Knowledge of the sport:
Strength!
Thanks to an early start in football he had 17 years of experience in playing football, which is
a long period and with that amount of time he has managed to get plenty of knowledge and
experience from other great players, coaches and managers also learning to form own
mistakes.
Which is a big strength because it can have a great impact on others, this could be an
example of him showing players how to do something correctly such as different drills or a
different way of doing something. Which players would be able to adapt to it which helps
the player to perform better! Also, this could save them a lot of time because Alex spent 17
years learning from his mistakes and others. Which sir Alex, could save time for other
footballer’s and help them because of playing football and the experience that he went
through, which he could pass the knowledge of the sport to the players which could save
them a lot of time to find out how things are done or improve themselves from their
mistakes and going through the same things as he did and this will help and impact the
players massively because they will not need to experience 17 years which means that they
will improve their performance massively because they will know more about football in a
shorter period of time and when they are playing they will be able to dribble or kick better
thanks to Sir Alex for sharing his knowledge. Which is why it is so important to know the
sport
Weakness!
If Alex sir Ferguson was not of been playing football for 17 years. He would not be able to
help the athletes to perform better because he would have no experience in playing football
or learn them anything which results in not impacting (boosting) their performance also this
could result in negatively affecting their performance, if the leader (Alex) was to give
incorrect tips to help them when they are playing, which could cause poor performance. For
example, they could kick the ball incorrectly or do incorrect technique which could affect
their performance and make them look bad when playing which could affect the athletes
psychologically and affect their self-confidence which could decrease their performance
even performance.
Which is why it is important to have knowledge of the sport like Alex because he can lead
the athletes correctly and effectively form his past carrier because he has learned over the
year on how to do things correctly. Which is a very important quality to have when being a
leader because you will be able to help others correctly and stop others from creating the
same mistakes as he did when he was younger.
