Central Processing Unit (CPU) :
Brain of the of the computer
It executes instructions which allows programs to run
Control Unit (CU) :
A part of the processor which directs operations inside the CPU
Manages the fde cycle
Sends control signals to coordinate movemenet of data through the execute
instruction
Decodes instructions
Control buses
Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU ) :
The ALU completes all the arithmetic and logical operations
Used to temporarily hold the results in the accumulator ( where operation is
stored)
Registers :
Registers are small memory cells that operate at a very high speed. They are used
to temporarily store data and all arithmetic, logical and shift operations occur in
these registers.
