Workplace bullying is a real thing in healthcare. “The role of nursing leadership is critical to reduce workplace bullying among nurses and create a work environment that is safe and healthy,” (Kim et al., 2019). Strength of this article is that it speaks to some very relevant and real issues that lead to burnout in the workplace. Weakness is that the study is “the cross-sectional design of the study, the causality between variables cannot be accurately inferred. Consistent replication studies on the effect of workplace bullying on nurses, nursing organizations, and patient care outcomes will be needed,” (Kim et al., 2019). PLOS ONE, 14(12). • The next article is about hospital turnover of newly licensed nurses. The strength of this study is that it looks at the hospital setting and what causes turnover in that setting. The strengths of this article is that it talks about strategies and steps that leadership can take to take care of nurse turnover. A weakness is that this is only about leadership strategies and the opportunities they can take to overcome different challenges in the 21st Lee, E., Daugherty, J., & Hamelin, T. (2019). Reimagine Health Care Leadership, Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century. Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing, 34(1), 27–38. • This next one is the 2020 National Staffing and Retention report. It is a great report providing numbers and statistics on the retention and staffing for 2019 in the United States. The strength is that it provides real data and numbers for the most recent statistics for the nursing workforce. The weakness is that it is a very long report that takes a lot of time to read through and get the information that I need.
