Instructional Strategy/Strategie s Air Writing: The students will write the key vocabulary words with their finger in the air. Air writing supports students learn to see the letter shape and supports them to image the letter (We Are Teachers staff, 2016). Create Images to Match Letters and Sounds: The teacher will show the students a card with one of the key vocabulary words on it. The students will then name and sound out each of the letter. Then the students are to air write the letter, say the letter name and its sound, then they are to take a mental picture of the letter (We Are Teachers staff, 2016). Weave In Spelling Practice: The teacher will have the students start by analyze the words discovering their syllables and other unique characteristics. Then the students visualize the words by saying and air writing the word. Then the students write the word on paper while saying the word. (We Are Teachers staff, 2016). F. Summary of Instruction and Activities for the Lesson The teacher will go over the key vocabulary words with the students. The teacher will read the story out loud to the class. As the teacher reads the students will write down the key words, they find on the flash cards. Once the story is over the class will go over the key words and discuss what the story is about. Then the students will write one to two paragraphs on what the story is about. The teacher will start by reviewing yesterday’s lesson, including the key vocabulary words. The students will then watch the video “Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Animation”. Then in small groups the students will reread the story. After reading the story the students will then identify and describe the different incidents that happen in the story. Then the students will write one to two paragraphs on what the story is about. The teacher will start by reviewing the previous lessons and the key vocabulary words. The students will independently read the story. After reading the story the students will then list the different stops on the underground railroad. Then the students will write one to two paragraphs on what the story is about. Then the students will then watch the video “Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Animation”.
