Pre-lab Questions 1. In this lab, you will conduct three experiments. What is the ultimate goal of those experiments in the context of this lab? What learning outcomes do you think this lab is attempting to convey with them? The goal of these experiments is to determine what organisms s are present and to also aid in visualizing as well as undertsnading their microbial structures in a more accurate percepiotion. 2. Explain the purpose of staining in the context of microbiology. Why do we utilize various staining techniques? The purpose for staining in terms of microbiology is to enhance the visibility of certain microorganisms. It provides a contrats between different parts within the specimen's anatomy. We utilize various techniques in staining by targeting specific structures and identifying the organisms. 3. Each experiment in this lab will cover a different staining technique. List those techniques below and provide a brief explanation of when each of those techniques would be used. ○ Simple staining uses a liquid known as crystal violet in order to aid in visualizing and understand structures more accuratlety ○ Negative Staining provides a more detailed assessment of a microbes' morophology and helps in preventing any distortion of the microbes ultrastructure bt the staining procedure ○ Gram staining distingusishes microbes broadly into a gram negative and a gram positive group
