IMM FINAL TEST QUESTIONS WITH
ALL CORRECT ANSWERS

What would the charge sensor read if you were to insert the blue charger producer into
the ice pail, which had been previously charged using the white charge producer? -
Answer- It should go to zero because the blue should be negative to cancel out the
white's positive charge

Do observations support prediction? - Answer- Kind of. It decreased from 10 to 8, but it
did not go all the way back to 0.

Charging by induction - Answer- 1, 0, -1

How does the sign of the charge induced on the ice pail compare to that on the charge
producer? - Answer- They are opposite of each other

Does any charge remain on the charge producer used to charge the ice pail by
induction? - Answer- Yes, because it does not touch the pail. It does not transfer
anything to the pail.

Charging by rubbing summary and explanation - Answer- While rubbing one charge
producer (white) loses electrons, the other charge producer (blue) gains electrons.

Charging by contact summary and explanation - Answer- The white (positive) producer
touches the pail so the positive and negative charges are rearranged to where the pail
reads positive, thus it lost electrons so the white charge producer gained electrons. This
was seen vice verse w/ the blue charge producer

Charging by induction summary and explanation - Answer- By resetting the grounding
with the charge producers in there, we cut off the transferring in/out of electrons. So
when we inserted the blue (negative) charge produce, electrons LEFT the pail and by
resetting the grounding, those electrons are stuck outside the pail. Thus when removing
the negative charge producer, the pail became a slight positive charge. The opposite
effect is shown with the white producer.

LAB 3: 40, 60, 80, 100? - Answer- 40 = dark orange
60 = orange
80 = yellow
100 = white
