Introduction
In the healthcare industry, healthcare professionals make great efforts to provide an
environment for patients to be treatment and heal in. Also, all healthcare facilities strive to
provide the best quality of care that is effective, efficient, and provides the best outcome for a
full recovery. In addition, is important healthcare professionals not just to treat what can be seen
and then stop treating the patient but what is also unseen as well. Furthermore, this paper will

discuss the components of creating a healing environment and the relationship to spirituality, the
challenges of making a healing environment, the aspects from a Christian worldview, and my
own philosophy of healthcare and wellness.
Components of a Healing Environment, Their Relationship to Spirituality, and
Medicalization
In a healthcare facility it strives to provide in its design, implement, and maintain a
healing environment. Also, a healing environment focuses on the detail of the facilities design
such as “soothing colors, therapeutic sounds, and improving the patient’s experience to promote
healing and recovery” (Sakallaris, McAllister, Voss, Smith, & Jones, 2015). In addition, by
improving the facilities designs also improves the level of care and the relationship between the
healthcare provider and the patient because the patient feels more comfortable in the
environment, they’re in. Additionally, spirituality has an important role since it provides the
facility with a sense of comfort so the patient can heal and recover. Furthermore, spiritually
allows a patient to have hope that the healthcare professionals will go above and beyond the call
of duty and provide the patient with a calm and safe environment.
As in any hospital, the latest technology is available to provide high quality care on
meeting the physical needs of the patient. Also, technology can also serve the spiritual and
mental needs as well as the physical. Technology allows healing hospitals to expedite test results
and allows physicians “access test results from their offices to make faster decision-making and
treatment” (Eberst, 2008). Additionally, technology can allow patients to listen to healing music
or watch a comedy channel to promote laughter which are some mechanisms to stimulate the
healing process. Furthermore, by incorporating technology into a healing environment the
hospital is able to promote a caring and relaxing environment by a compassionate staff.
