including climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.
1.1.4 Sustainability refers to the ability of humans to meet our current needs without compromising the ability of
future generations to meet their own needs. It involves finding ways to use natural resources in a responsible and
efficient manner, reducing waste and pollution, and promoting social and economic equity. Sustainable practices seek to
balance economic growth, social development, and environmental protection in a way that supports long-term well-being.
1.1.5 The holistic environment refers to the interconnectedness of all things in the natural world. It recognizes that
everything in the environment is connected and that changes in one part of the system can have ripple effects
throughout the whole. A comprehensive approach to the environment considers the complex interrelationships between
humans, other living organisms, and the physical and chemical components of the environment. It emphasizes the
