THIRD ASSIGNMENT (ASSESSMENT NUMBER 19)

• For your third assignment, you will be required to write a research proposal on the topic:
The interplay between parenting styles, children’s prosocial behaviour, and perceived
neighbourhood characteristics.
• Introduce the concepts of parenting styles, children’s prosocial behaviour, and perceived
neighbourhood characteristics and provide an overview of the core aspects of these
concepts as discussed in the literature.



• Outline and synthesize previous research on parenting styles, children’s prosocial
behaviour, and perceived neighbourhood characteristics.




• Derive at least one research hypothesis from your literature review that addresses the
interplay between parenting styles, children’s prosocial behaviour, and perceived
neighbourhood characteristics and outline in detail how you will study it.
• The proposal should not exceed ten (10) pages (excluding the front page, table of contents,
and references).

• In your third assignment, you are expected to write a research proposal to explore
the relationships between neighbourhood characteristics, the main parenting styles
(e.g., authoritarian, authoritative, permissive), and perceived children’s pro- and
anti-social behaviour.

• Outline the methodological approach to test the hypothesis in this research project.
• Your research will be guided by a quantitative research approach.
• This study will be conducted online using a cross-sectional online survey, hosted on
the research platform Qualtrics




• Based on the feedback

you received for your second assignment, continue to improve upon writing your
literature review on neighbourhood characteristics, parenting styles (e.g., authoritarian,
authoritative, permissive), and perceived children’s pro- and anti-social behaviour.




• Based on the improved literature review,

state a research hypothesis that indicates the relationship between being exposed to
