compromise which made him a ultimate dictator of Russia. He was motivated by his
past peasantry life style because it made him aware of what it was like to be part of a
lower class also he wasn't Russia so he had a chip on his shoulder. Not inflexible when
it came to communism due to peasantry life as well. Stalins goals were to build a strong
communist Russia which should be economically sound and as nearly self sufficing as
possible, so as not to be dependent upon trade with capitalist competitors. Wanted to
industrialize Russia. Many died when Stalin was in charge due to his strong dictator
ship methods. Peasants resisted a lot due to collectivization with caused famine and
death of 10 millions people. Stalins desire to make all decisions led to the purge of old
bolsheviks and many army officials, diplomats, union officials, intellectuals and ordinary
citizens who opposed him.

Alexander Kerensky - Answer-Leader of Provisional government. Continued WW1 to

Leon Trotsky - Answer-Russian revolutionary intellectual and close adviser to
Lenin.Military genius. Helped win civil war. A leader of the Bolshevik Revolution (1917),
he was later expelled from the Communist Party (1927) and banished (1929) for his
opposition to the authoritarianism of Stalin. Lost to Stalin because of his decision to
spread communism which would ultimately lead to more war Russian could not take.
Believed in spreading communism. Did no agree with the NEP and its concession to the
peasants.
