JATC INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS1. Can you tell us some of the reasons why you decided to apply for an electrical
apprenticeship? - Answers- The union is what sold me. The brotherhood, I like that ill
be valued as a worker, and I know the union will teach me the right way to do things. I
like that ill be able to go to work every day and know ill be challenged physically and
mentally. I know ill never get bored because there is always something new to learn in
this trade. I also want to be able to take care of my family.
1. What are some of the experiences you have had in the past that increased your
interest in becoming an electrical worker? - Answers- About two years ago I was trying
to figure out what I wanted to do with my life after college. I knew I didn't want to pursue
what I actually want to college for. After researching and finding out about the union and
talking to one of my friends dads that's an electrician I knew that this is what I want to do
for the rest of my life. Ever since I've found out about it I've been studying for the
aptitude test pretty much everyday and I've watched countless videos of day in the life
1. What knowledge do you have about what an electrical worker does on the job? -
Answers- I know that electricians install and maintain electrical equipment in businesses
and homes. They also pull wire, install light fixtures, bend conduit. I know that il l be
working in all sorts of elements. Freezing cold to blazing hot. I'll dig trenches, climb tall
ladders, go through crawl spaces and I know ill be doing a lot of cleaning up and
sweeping.
3. Describe how you went about planning a project that you completed from start to
finish. - Answers- My mom asked me to build her a couple of raised garden beds. I
planned the project by researching how to build one because this would be my first time
doing it. Once I had an idea on how I was going to build the garden bed, I figured out
the cost, and then gathered all the material and tools I would be using. I followed the
instructions that I printed out and the garden builds turned out great. My mom loved
them.
3. Tell us about a time when you were proud of the way you organized a job. - Answers-
I had to write a five page essay for my philosophy class and I had 7 days to do it. I
worked about 48 hours that week and was taking the max amount of credits you could
take. I was worried that I may not beable to get it done. I had to make a detailed strict
plan for me to finish this paper. It took a lot of discipline and sleepless nights to finish
the paper but I completed it a day earlier.
3. Describe a time when you were working on an important deadline, but something of
higher priority came up and prevented you from making the deadline. - Answers- When
I was in college I had to write a 5-page paper for my philosophy class. I had a week to
finish the paper. I had it planned out to where I would have to write only one page the
day it was due and that I would do it before I went to work. as I was working on the
paper that day, I got called into work early because there was an emergency. I got off at
1130 that night, so I told myself I would get as much as I could do in the last half hour
