, Gingivitis is called inflammation of gums and may contribute to pain and bleeding. Bacteria
colonize the gingival space if the plaque accumulates on the teeth. The atmosphere becomes
anaerobic with this area becoming gradually blocked. This allows for the invasion of several
microbes including Porphyromonas, Streptococcus, and Actinomyces. Lipopolysaccharide
(LPS), proteases, lipoteichoic acids, and others trigger inflammation and damage to the gum.
Methanogenic archaeans (including Methanobrevibacter oralis and other Methanobrevibacter
organisms) can also lead to the progression of the disease since certain species have been
reported in patients with periodontal diseases, however, that has not proven simple to research.
Visual evaluation of gingivitis including gum pockets and x-rays is diagnosed, and typical
procedures are done with adequate oral care and competent dental washing, with antibiotics
reserved for serious cases.
