LOCAL COMMUNITY
This could mean all the people in the local community for example people living in Newry or Armagh. Many
businesses are of national importance, and activates have a crucial significance to local communities. Many
businesses are of national importance and their activities have a crucial significance to local communities.
Modern businesses leave their mark in many different ways on communities. Despite the environment and
other negative effects, local authorities still welcome new businesses. They bring jobs and cash to areas. When
businesses of any size operate within a locality, there are always ethical concerns. These concerns become
highlighted whenever people's worst fears come true. We can see that local communities in County
Fermanagh are being effected by the fracking in that area. People are starting to get worried about the health
issues and environmental issues that may concern fracking in their area.
REGIONAL AND NATIONAL COMMUNITY
While local people can be in immediate danger from a catastrophic event, an entire region may be affected
when an industry faces ethical questions. Environmental issues do not stop at local, national or international
boundaries. When entire industries go through difficulties, there are regional, and often national, effects.
Many communities are faced with serious problems when multi-national corporations set up local operations
and later take decisions that are purely commercial. In some cases, complete closure of an important
employer leads to significant job losses; in other redundancies. The effects of fracking in County Fermanagh
doesn’t stop on local communities. The issues that are covered above are also affecting people regionally and
nationally. Water pollution is starting to be a big concern within those communities as on average 50% of the
frack fluid returns as flow back water. Also report shows that the average fracked well uses 19 million litters of
water, those litres of contaminated water will be present on the surface in the fracking areas.
National community is a group of people who identify themselves by a feature that they all have in common,
they are spread across an entire nation. National community may be concerned with the air pollution factor
and also the public health as this will not only affect people in local or regional area. This will be affecting the

whole nation sooner or later as it spread over the whole nation. Although government wants to invite more
business as this will have impact on the economic growth of the country meaning that they will gain more
profits from it in the long-term. Along with that comes the responsibility of general public health
GLOBAL COMMUNITY
A group of individuals that interact within their immediate surroundings. A typical local community consists of
business operators, public agency staff and residents, and their interactions can include the sharing of
resources, information and assistance, as well as the establishment of commercial relationships between local
businesses and consumers. Fracking in Country Fermanagh wouldn’t be as big of a concern to global
community, although on some level it would still get affected as air pollution is being spread everywhere, and
there is no real control over it. For example air pollution being formed in County Fermanagh may be affecting
people in Scotland. Main concern would be the government as they would get affected by the economic
decline if fracking in Fermanagh was meant to stop, businesses like coalfields and mine fracking wouldn’t be as
welcome in Ireland anymore as they wouldn’t see any potential in coming here.
PRESSURE GROUPS
Environmental pressure groups consistently force issues into the public's attention and therefore pressure
both governments and business leaders into action. The pressure groups face both the government and
businesses owners in that area. The group is investigating and issues that may concern public and they will try
to deal with it by putting pressure on those bodies in order to resolve the issue. In county Fermanagh, pressure
groups would try and persuade the government to stop the fracking in that area as it raises many ethical
questions but also it is bringing a lot of problems for the environment, issues such as water pollution and air
pollution. Pressure groups are beneficial for the community as they deal with issues that people in the local
community face but have no way of getting heard, that’s why pressure groups are formed to try and resolve
those issues.
THE IMPACT OF OVERSEEING BODIES
It is increasingly recognised that many of the ethical questions that concern us cannot be dealt with just within
national boundaries. This means that national, continental and international bodies are taking actions to
oversee the activities of business all over the world. They are generally based on voluntary measures.
