Anatomical dead space include space with in trachea and primary bronchi. Let me give you an
idea of dead space so that you can visualise this. When air travels through the nasal tract to lungs
via nose, trachea and bronchi, no gaseous exchange occurs here. The exchange occurs in lung
alveoli. This route is just for travelling purpose. It does not contribute to gaseous exchange
between body and environment. So it is called dead space. trachea and primary bronchi do not
take part in gaseous exchange.
