A ferroin solution was mixed with Sulfuric acid (H​2S​O​4)​ to separate the ferrous ions (Fe2​ ) and the rate of dissociation of the phenanthroline ligand was observed.

The 'Iodine clock' occured when sev​er​al ox​i​da​tion-re​duc​tion re​ac​tions were completed, with accuracy of a clock. The rate of the reaction of interest (between iodide (I-​ ​) and persulfate ions (S​2O​ ​82​ -)​ ) was calculated, tabulated. PLEASE READ: My class and I all agree that this lab manual was a joke. We all were "wrong " based on the calculation & table they made us use. For example, one of the metal is brass, which is not even listed in the table found in the lab manual lol. 2/4 of the unknowns for sure are copper & brass. Good luck guys! lol

4-methylcyclohexene was synthesized through dehydration of 4-methylcyclohexanol, in the presence of an acid catalyst. The obtained product was identified using various methods (e.g. Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy and chemical tests for unsaturation (bromination test & permanganate test)). 

Lab done online, during COVID-19. Still includes detailed tables and IR Spectra. All correct post lab questions.

By manipulating solubility differences between these two cyclic structures, the two were separated to obtain a single and/or both products, which will be identified using Infrared (IR) spectroscopy (all IR included in lab report).
