life, people's exchanges tend to be superficial, which leads to alienation and dilution

of emotions among individuals. Solitude has become a common problem in modern

society. Loneliness is associated with many negative emotions. Studies show that

solitude leads to negative experiences such as depression, helplessness, depression,

irritability, inferiority, despair, and so on. Therefore, loneliness can have a great

impact on human health. According to statistics, the number of people who are

healthy and lonely is 10 times less dead than those who are fit and healthy. At this

stage of the university, students are just getting out of their family care and then they

are going to enter society. They are easily affected during this period, both positive

and negative. As a leader among their peers, they bear the hope of the country and the

nation.

However, studies have shown that the phenomenon of loneliness among

college students not only exists but also is very serious, which is extremely

unfavorable to their success. Therefore, it is not only the responsibility of universities

but also the responsibility of every family and every society of every college student

to focus on the sense of loneliness of undergraduates and guide them correctly so as to

help them view loneliness correctly and turn them into motive force.

life whereby they must learn to survive on their own without the support of their

families. Most University students stay in the school compound or in the vicinity o0f

the school. In such an environment, people have to make critical changes to their

lifestyles owing to the fact that they are in a new environment to which they are not

adapted to (Sillitoe 63). One of the most critical moves a student has to make is to

make new friends. Making new friends is often a daunting task for many people.

Additionally, social media on the Internet offers a shortcut to wards interaction.

However, social media friendships are not always the best things to go by. This is

because, they do not enable people to interact on a very deep level which they can call

themselves best of friends.

In addition, the world today is moving at a very fast pace which forces people to

do so many things to be able to survive. For instance, you may find a student doing so

many courses so that they are relevant in the Job market. This hyperactivity gives

students very little time to interact. In light of that, most students end up being very

lonely beings. Loneliness is a very serious problems in our learning institutions. As

such, stakeholders such as education institutions ought to make appropriate measures

to try and solve this peril. Efforts geared towards reducing loneliness among college

students will help reduce the many conditions that are brought about by loneliness. At

the heart of these conditions lies depression (Huffpost). Research shows that more

than 90 percent of the world’s population has been depressed at a point in their lives.

It is imperative that institutions move with speed to curtail loneliness among students.
