● Unlike parenthood, which is simply a state of conditioning, parenting is a process
● Parenting is a complicated task and involves providing physical care, encouragement,
love, support, and guidance
● All these should be provided with the goal of helping each child develop to his or her

● To care for a child well, a person needs many different parenting skills. The skills of a
parent need to change as children grow up. It is required that an effective caregiver
continues to develop parenting skills all their lives
● These skills can be developed by asking the advice of family and friends, reading books
and articles about parenting, observing other parents and children, attending parenting
classes, and gaining experience with children
Overparenting;
● What is over parenting? What are the negative effects can overparenting have on a
child?
○ The child might experience anxiety and stress as a result. They may also
struggle to be independent and become nervous to make decisions in the future.
Types of Parenting Styles and Outcomes;
● Most parents can be classified into three main types by the style in which they guide
their children.
Authoritarian; Limits without Freedom.
● Definition:
○ Parents’ word is law, parents have absolute control
○ Misconduct is punished
○ Affection and praise are rarely give
○ They value unquestioned obedience
