Blood Pressure- The force exerted on the walls of blood vessels by the blood flowing through
them
Systolic Pressure- When the heart is contacting, the arteries are pushed to their widest as the
blood pumps through them- when blood pressure is highest

Diastolic Pressure- When the heart is relaxing, the arteries return to their original state and width-
when blood pressure is lowest

MAP- Mean Arterial Pressure, an average of the two pressures
Vasodilation- Widening of the veins to increase surface area. Also decreases blood pressure as
there is less force on the vessel walls
Vasoconstriction- Narrowing of the veins to decrease surface area. Increases blood pressure as
there is more force on vessel walls
