conditional when talking about possible future events.

(Talking +writing about possible future events)
➢ Students will do freer practise activities to help with fluency
A2 (Late elementary/ and controlled practice activities for accuracy
Level of Class: pre-intermediate) Lesson Objectives: ➢ Students should be able to use and identify the first
Teenagers (14-16 years old) conditional form correctly
➢ Students’ fluency and listening skills will be improved by doing
the first conditional activities

➢ Students understand basic grammatical terms (subject, verb,
auxiliary verb, infinitive, question and negative forms and
tenses)
Nationality/First ➢ They are already comfortable with present continuous,
Turkish Assumed Knowledge:
Language: present simple, past simple and would probably be slightly
familiar with future events
➢ Some students may have already heard of the term ‘first
conditional’
1. Problem: European students may sometimes force or even
place the stress of the sentence on the ‘will’ and ‘if’ clauses.
Solution: I will make use of more drilling and listening

often say it as “v”
Solution: Practicing more drilling and listening activities

not hear it between the subject and auxiliary verb
Solution: at first I will introduce the sentence without using
contractions and say it out fully (e.g He will instead of He’ll)
Then we will using drilling to make sure they hear and
understand where the contraction comes from.
5. Problem: Students may find it difficult to tell the difference
between various conditionals
Solution: Explain to the learners that the difference is about
the probability
