INTRODUCTION
For our science experiment, we chose to make a baking soda volcano. This experiment involves a
reaction between the baking soda and the vinegar. This mixture creates carbon dioxide and since
there is too much pressure in the bottle since there is no space, the mixture explodes. This
experiment relates to pressure because the carbon dioxide creates pressure which causes it to
explode.
HYPOTHESIS
Our hypothesis is that the baking soda and the vinegar will react with each other and create
carbon dioxide. We think that it explodes because after the baking soda and the vinegar reacts
with each other, the gas particles have no more space in the bottle which causes too much
pressure to build up and explode.
MATERIALS
1. 10 ml of dish soap
2. 100 ml of warm water
3. 400 ml of white vinegar
4. Baking soda
5. Empty 2 liter soda bottle
6. Tray
7. Funnel
