Emergency Case Study

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a variety of different effects on national economies and

populations around the globe. There have been deaths, people have been quarantined, and it has

caused societal unrest. When compared to what took place in the United States, Italy, or even

Russia, for that matter, the situation in Canada does not even come close to being the worst. In

light of the fact that it is absolutely necessary to investigate every single conceivable instance,

the purpose of this case study is to investigate the emergency occurrence of coronavirus-19 in

Canada.

COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) was discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, it is

contagious and has spread rapidly, COVID-19 causes symptoms like a cold, flu, or pneumonia

(CDC, 2022). COVID-19 attacks the lungs and respiratory system more than other organs (CDC,

2022). Some people with COVID-19 develop severe illness, COVID-19 is more dangerous for

older adults and those with certain medical conditions (CDC, 2022).

Canada, in contrast to other countries, was not struck by COVID-19 at the same time as the other

countries. As a direct consequence of this, the courses that each instances took were distinct.

Early in February 2020, the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in Canada. The provinces of

Ontario and British Columbia were the ones to report the first occurrences of the B.1.1.7 variant

(Government of Canada, 2020). Initially, it was believed that the epidemic was caused by the

B.1.1.7 variant; however, it was subsequently discovered that all 19 patients tested positive for

the variant. This led to the revision of the original theory (CDC, 2022). The variant has a high

potential for transmission, with a 50% increase in transmissibility over the B.1.1.7 form that was

found in the United States (CDC, 2022). There were many reports of cases coming from the

provinces of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. As cases of community transmission
