Analyze the information in the class summary. What are your learners’ strengths and weaknesses?

The class summary indicates that the student’s strengths are reading with an average band width score of 6.6. Writing is not
considered a strength as it has an average band width score of 5.8, that which is only slightly higher than the weaknesses.
Their weaknesses evidently are in their listening and speaking skills with both average band width scores of 5.75.




Which two skills have you chosen to teach in this lesson? Why?

After analyzing the class summary, I have decided to teach the students listening and speaking skills as these require more
attention than their reading and writing skills. With a band width score for listening and speaking averaging to 5.75, which is
notably lower than the other two skills. In the listening and speaking sections of the IELTS exam, test takers are required to
demonstrate their ability to understand, and use spoken English in a variety of contexts. This includes listening to and
understanding lectures, presentations, and conversations, as well as participating in spoken conversations and
discussions.
By focusing on helping students to improve their listening and speaking skills, I will better prepare them for these specific
parts of the IELTS exam. This can be especially important for students who have weaker listening and speaking skills, as
these areas can be more challenging for them and require additional practice and attention.

and engage with the material. The topic of health and fitness covers a wide range of subtopics, including nutrition, exercise,
mental health, and wellness, which allows for plenty of variety in the listening and speaking activities. Health and fitness is
a topic that requires a good understanding of vocabulary, which helps students practice their listening and speaking skills
by reinforcing their knowledge of key terms and phrases. The topic is often discussed in the media, which means there are
plenty of resources available for listening and speaking practice, such as podcasts, news articles, and online lectures.
