In this lecture, Ken talked about the differences between Toronto, and Vancouver
which is about the culture inclusive. I feel the same idea about it. In last break, I had
gone to Toronto by myself. I was in there for five days four nights. Even though I
heard that Toronto is a multicultural city, it is much surprised that I really experienced
it. In those five days, I saw a lot of people with different nationalities. It was less
likely to see face like me as an Asian. When I was going to Niagara fall, I did not see
anyone like me. I was quite shocking but later in theses few days, I feel that was a
normal situation that I accept and understand there are different culture and faces
around me. It is an experience that I will be less likely meet in Vancouver. From
Jacobs, a city teaches different interactions and creates norms that how people behave
and civil. Even I was only stayed in Toronto for few days, I can feel that the
multicultural of the city will nurture how people deal with people who are not look
like ourselves. As an international student, I feel inclusive in Vancouver as there are
lots of Asian. However, it was probably losing an opportunity to know more people in
other culture and be more acceptance as we do not feel we are in a diversity.
