In this IELTS lesson, we're going to compare two essays, one with a medium score and one with

a high score. Throughout this lesson, I'm going to demonstrate some techniques you can use to

improve your essay. Now throughout this lesson, we're going to analyze these essays against a

common issue that students face: not fully understanding or responding to the essay prompt.

First, begin with a general statement about the topic. Next, rephrase or address the question to

clarify the essay's scope. Then, include a thesis statement with a clear position. Finally, when

appropriate, use subject-specific vocabulary. In general, anyone aiming for a good score should

have the ability to rephrase the question. This is why it's essential to take a few minutes, at least

two minutes, to think about your position and justifications. Always make notes, and when

you're practicing, practice note-taking. All right, now we're going to move on to the body

paragraphs.

The coherence is present, but it's not highlighting the writer's skill level. The more you focus on

developing your ideas, the easier it will be to incorporate complex structures. This is why it's

critical to take notes at the outset. Make sure you have clear ideas and write them down since

you can't remember them all. Our topic sentence is straightforward. That's the most critical

aspect. Durable products are preferable. It contains conditional sentences and gives an example

of how it fills up our landfills. It then illustrates this idea with the example of buying a cell phone

every year, explains the impact and proposes how we could minimize the negative consequences.

So in this paragraph, there is no redundancy. There is a broader range of vocabulary and

grammar, and I've explored the idea more profoundly, which could earn me a higher score. A
