Read all instructions before starting to answer the questions.
This is an open book exam. You may consult the textbook, the web or any other source during this exam.
The test lasts 80 minutes, i.e., the length of a normal class. (Certain students registered with Academic
Accommodations Service (SASS) may get more time, depending on the nature of their accommodation.)
This exam has three Parts: A, B and C. You must answer one question in each of the three Parts. Manage
your time so that you can answer all questions adequately. Parts A and B are both worth 4 points each.
Part C is worth 2 points. This exam is thus worth 10 points in total.
Since this is an open book exam, there is no excuse for making simple factual errors or for misusing key
concepts.
Do not engage in any form of academic fraud; if you use materials produced by someone else (text,
graphics, tables, etc.) you must give them credit.
You must save your in a Microsoft Word file (*.doc or *.docx); then submit it through Brightspace,
Assignments, Mid-Term No. 1. If you cannot get into Brightspace, attach your Microsoft Word file to an
email and send that email to the Teaching Assistant who runs your DGD.
Be sure to include in the Microsoft Word file your name, student number, the course number
(DM1100A), the date and the label “Mid-Term Exam No. 1”.
