CVS: Pharmacy Technician Basics, 20
Edition: Questions & Answers
Is a Pharmacy Technician a stressful job? Correct Ans - Absolutely!
Although it is stressful, it can be very rewarding knowing the impact you make
on patients life. YOU ARE keeping them alive! It is important to make them feel
welcoming, not feel stressed out, and being accurate with their prescriptions.

Why is there blue stickers on the production zone? Correct Ans -
Believe it or not, the stickers actually decrease the amount of accidents in the
pharmacy!

What is Rxconnect? Correct Ans - Rxconnect is a vital software that
allows us to do everything! It is very similar to a CMD (command prompt)
where you CANNOT use the mouse to control different aspects (such as
reprinting a label, recording the filling of prescriptions, etc.)

The system is light blue and dark blue. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a
screenshot (potential because of PHI [Patient Health Information]), so enjoy
this cute baby :)

What is QT? Correct Ans - QT stand for Queue Triage. It is the brain of
the pharmacy. Typically, most prescription from the doctor entire here IF there
was some discretion in the written/electronical written prescription. With
this being the brain, it is IMPORTANT to entire the prescription exactly like
how the doctor intended. The name especially needs to be correct, and if the
patient already has an CVS profile with us, it should let you know after
selecting the prescription in QT.

If the dosage or instruction don't line up, refer to the pharmacist for the next
course of action. Also if insurance doesn't line up (Line 11 on RxConnect), try
to locate a discount card or do and Eligibility Check (to access an Eligibility
Check to sequence is line 11 --> A --> EC [or if there is a current insurance
select that])

, What is a prescription? Correct Ans - I like to think a prescription has
two forms: Written/Electronical Written & Filled With actually medication in a
vial.

Its important to know the different definitions of the same word and which
one the pharmacist or patient is referring to.

For example, I have had patient come to me and say is my medication ready?
After checking their profile there is no sign of this medication. They explain
they have a doctors written prescription and at that point, I'll explain what I
just have here. I need the written/electronic to prove that this patient is on it,
otherwise, there nothing I can do.

What is QP? Correct Ans - QP stands for Queue Production. It is the
limbs of the pharmacy. It allows us to fill prescriptions, while also acting as a
safety check by making sure we scan the label, the manufactory bottle, and we
affix the correct lid (non safety vs safety).

It is IMPORTANT to keep in mind the times they are do and sometimes the
dates. always remember during your time here: FIFO

First In, First Out

What is QV? Correct Ans - QV stands for Queue Verification. It is the
backbone of the pharmacy. Don't worry about this queue too much because it
is primarily for the Pharmacist.

What are some suffix's of some major drugs? (3) Correct Ans - -statin
(cholesterol), -am (anxiety), -cillin (antibiotic),

What is the difference between safety and non-safety caps? Correct Ans -
safety requires more force and is better if you have kids, while non-safety is a
simple pull-off cap (picture is a safety)

What is a leaflet? Correct Ans - At CVS, a leaflet is the form that prints
when printing a prescription already processed and is ready for production
(QP). It contains useful information like quantity, directions for the patient, the
name, etc. The leaflet must be folded a total of 3 times in order for it to be in
the right orientation. On the back of the leaflet, is a label that MUST be affixed
