, Preface

As instructors, we know that teaching tomorrow’s managers can be a daunting task. With all the
information available from authors, publishers, the Internet, and our own studies, it can be
difficult to sort through everything to deliver a good product to our students. To help, we have
provided instructors with a clear and concise manual for teaching with the thirteenth Canadian
edition of Management, by Stephen Robbins, Mary Coulter, Ed Leach and Mary Kilfoil.

The instructor manual provides chapter specific resources that address the learning objectives,
management myths, chapter outline, it’s your career, workplace confidential, let’s get real, future
vision, leader making a difference, discussion questions, ethics dilemma, skill development
exercise, team exercise, learning to be a manager and case answers for all the chapters in the
text. Each chapter follows a consistent outline.

Key Changes to the 13th Canadian Edition

In the midst of writing the 13th Canadian edition of Management, the world underwent a rapid
change due to the onset and ongoing evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and simultaneously
the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement and the call for immediate changes to
reduce the systemic racism embedded in our society. Concurrently, climate change has
manifested itself as a reality at a time when the party in power in the United States is
dismantling the environmental regulation infrastructure and supporting the view that climate
change is “fake news.” The Canadian authors have woven the story of the pandemic into
elements of each chapter. We have emphasized the need for systemic change in Chapter 3,
renaming it Embracing Diversity and Inclusion. In Chapter 6, Managing Responsibly and
Ethically, we reinforce the need and the value of being responsible, sustainable, and ethical.
The 14th U.S. edition added a new section on disruptive innovation and the need for
nimbleness, agility, and adaptability that has been woven into the fabric of the 13th Canadian
edition.
