JC Act IV Review Test 2024. With whom do Octavius and Antony form a triumvirate? How would you describe the spirit of the triumvirate? - ANSWER Octavius and Antony form a triumvirate with Lepidus. Octavius and Antony seem to be the "head" people and they tell Lepidus what to do. They are uncaring and harsh, because they are trying to control Rome, and trying to figure out who to get rid of to gain more control. "Fetch the will hither, and we shall determine / How to cut off some charge in legacies" (IV. i. 10-11). - ANSWER We need to figure out how to limit the payments left to the public in Caesar's will. Explain Antony's comparison of Lepidus to a donkey and a horse. - ANSWER Antony is comparing Lepidus to his horse. He says this by saying he can control Lepidus the same way he controls his horse. "It is a creature that I teach to fight, to wind, to stop, to turn directly on," (lines 35 and 36). What does Antony's attitude toward Lepidus most likely reveal about Antony? - ANSWER By cruelly insulting Lepidus moments after treating him as an equal, Antony indicates that he looks down on those around him but is nevertheless willing to use them for his own political gain. Why does Brutus likely want to move away from others to have their conversation? - ANSWER Why has Cassius come to see Brutus? Why is he upset? - ANSWER Cassius has come to see Brutus because he is upset about how Brutus is treating those below him. He is upset because Brutus accuses him of taking bribes. Why is Brutus upset with Cassius? - ANSWER Brutus is upset with Cassius for 5 reasons. The first being when Cassius sold positions for gold to undeserving people. "To sell and mart your offices for gold to undeservers." Lines 63 and 64. The second reason is that Cassius has anger and stares like a mad man. The third reason is Cassius would never tempt him. The fourth is Cassius did not give money to Brutus. The last reason is he shouldn't be doing all the work because he did most of the work when Caesar died.
