B260 week 1: Hygiene
safe on face and genitalia
-dry after application
-face, neck, chest
-each arm
-each leg
-genitalia
-back
-buttocks - ANS-standard wipes
kills MRRSA, VRE and other bugs
-antimicrobial
-central lines and catheters need a chg bath everyday
-works for 6 hours after application
-do not dry after application
-do not use on a wound
-wipe down tubing for central lines or catheters with this
-some patients do have allergies to chg- always assess allergies - ANS-CHG wipes
extra important for diabetic patients
-nerve damage occurs in feet
-can have no sensation or pins and needles in feet
-inspect daily
-pay close attention to inside of toes
-use warm temperatures
-apply clean socks daily
-apply moisturizer to feet but not in between the toes - ANS-hand/foot care
-explain what youre doing before you do it
-provide privacy - ANS-perineal care
most important for people on ventilator or tube - ANS-oral hygiene
